Also up sharply are hopes for the reduction of crime as the Community Services Division of the Oakland Police Department applies its recently won State grant to organize 21 new Home Alert groups in the Beat 13 area. According to Dorlista Dawson, staff consultant to the citizen committee imple- menting the grant proposal, it is now easier than ever to organize your block against crime.

According to Ms. Dorlista Dawson, Police Department Crime Pre- vention Consultant, some parts of Rock- ridge have responded to the call to estab- lish a neighborhood alert network, but not as many as crime statistics indicate would be needed.
