Studio One Art Center, Temescal
Oakland's Public Art Program is seeking an artist to design and install public art at the exterior entrance of Studio One Art Center, which is undergoing renovation. Studio One classes will move to the Malonga Arts Center for about 18 months during construction. Friends of Studio One are raising $400,000 for furnishings, kilns, and computers in the new building.

Studio One Art Center building undergoing a $12.5 million seismic upgrade and renovation funded by Measure DD. The building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. The renovated facility was expected to reopen at its historic 45th Street location by summer 2007.
The Studio One Art Center, built in 1894 and recently designated a National Historic Landmark, is undergoing a $12 million reconstruction. Councilmember Jane Brunner earmarked $250,000 of the city's budget surplus for furnishings; Friends of Studio One are raising the remaining $330,000 for furnishings.

Phase 2 of Oakland Technical High School's auditorium renovation was near completion; work included painting, acoustic treatments, a Meyer sound system, and a new lighting and sound booth; PTSA was raising $25,000 for a projector and screen as the only remaining item.
Oakland Tech's PTSA is redesigning the old library space into a student center and staff lounge in a phased project. Phase One (clearing, painting, flooring replacement, partial staff lounge) will begin summer 2022. $80,000 raised so far; additional funds needed for Phases Two and Three.
