State-appointed OUSD administrator Randy Ward announced closure of Golden Gate Elementary School (6200 Golden Gate Ave) and Washington Elementary School (581 61st St) by end of the school year, with a New Small Autonomous School to open at the Washington campus, and a charter school (Aspire) to open at the Golden Gate site. Carter Middle School 6th grade would also be phased out.
