The Land Use Committee unanimously approved recommending RCPC establish a working group to discuss and make recommendations to the city about CN-1 zoning revisions. The central item is how to deal with discontinued or abandoned conditional uses.
College Avenue
RCPC representatives met with city staff to discuss a possible study of College Avenue retail zoning, covering topics such as use permit thresholds, extension of use permits, and maintaining balance of uses in the face of internet retail growth. A follow-up meeting and possible Town Hall were anticipated.
City staff has given RCPC the go-ahead to open a public discussion on CN-1 zoning issues affecting College Avenue and other neighborhood commercial areas. The Land Use Committee will lead the effort, inviting stakeholders, with the aim of eventually bringing forward zoning modifications including how to handle abandoned conditional uses.
