The Rockridge District Association (RDA) proposed installing decorative archways at College/Alcatraz and College/Broadway as gateway markers for the district, at a cost of approximately $150,000. The proposal met with overwhelming community opposition at the RCPC meeting, and the City of Berkeley declined to participate in the joint proposal.
College Ave at Alcatraz Ave and College Ave at Broadway
Councilmember Jane Brunner redirected approximately $750,000 in capital improvement funds for North Oakland over two years, with planning staff looking at possible streetscape improvements up and down College Avenue and a potential gateway to signal the Rockridge neighborhood. The Land Use Committee also launched a summer study of land use along all of College Avenue.
