CHRCO expansion plans have taken a turn for the better: heliport to remain south of 52nd St on new Link Building; parking garage entrance changed to MLK Jr. Way instead of Dover Street; several residences to be relocated rather than demolished; 53rd Street would retain residential feel. DEIR release is the next step.

Children's Hospital and Research Center Oakland (CHRCO) is planning a major expansion addressing seismic issues. Phase 1 includes a nearly 100,000 sq. ft., 6-story outpatient building north of the main campus removing 4 single-family homes. Phase 2 involves removal of 6 more homes and a 5-story, 125,000 sq. ft. acute care patient pavilion. Total project: about 500,000 sq. ft. of new construction. EIR scoping meetings underway.
