BART is installing taller, stronger fare gates system-wide to deter fare evasion. A prototype set of swing-style fare gates has been in use at Rockridge station for some time; work will begin soon at West Oakland to install new prototype fare gates by the end of December 2023. Installation at all 50 stations to be completed by end of 2025.
